"Finished" - Feuer Forest Products - Pictures

Finally finished - this structure will be taking it's place on an "in progress" N Trak module along with some others that will make up part of the new PVR...

It is named in memory of a old and dear childhood friend who played "Triang trains" with me as a five year old and who passed away last year at the tender age of 40.... He'd like this one...................So, put on your safety boots and your hard hat and come along - , remember in "my world" it's 1973 as you take a tour of the Feuer Forest Products Factory...............

The Feuer Forest Products Company makes custom moldings and railings. They are located in the beautiful Puddington Valley part of Southern British Columbia and avail themselves of the many types of woods and forest products available in that region.

The factory is serviced by both rail ( the Puddington Valley Division of the CPR) and by truck service via Penticton to the coast. Two rail docks are used - an out door dock for unloading flats and boxcars full of lumber and raw wood and a covered dock attached to the main factory for loading finished products.

Lumber and stock awating processing is kept in this lumber shed. The shed is used to sort and classify the various wood into sizes and grades. Lumber that arrives wrapped from the mill is often kept on the ground outside due to storage limitations. A large Massey Ferguson forklift has recently been bought to service the plant.

The quanset hut was picked up a few years ago from a Canadian Army base that was closing - it is used by the two millwrights and the mechanic as a shop/garage.

The plant has 24 employees and Elaine, the daughter of the owner is the CFO and controller. She oversee's much of the operation and isn't afraid to "get dirty" when required. She is passing one of the 4 trucks that the company owns.

Like any factory, the backside of the plant get's little if any clean up attention. Overgrown and full of years of junk that has blown out of the dumpsters, the backside looks as if it needs some attention soon....

The Puddington valley Division daily shunt has spotted a 50' boxcar to be loaded. the shipment is being set to the Port of Vancouver for cross docking to a ship bound for Hong Kong. The crews have less than eight hours to load her before she's schedules to be pulled... less they be charged demurrage...................!

Looks like the crews made it ! The local switch is being handled by a Canadian Pacific MLW RS 18 today. She's already picked up an empty Southern Railway 40's car at the Del Cherry Sporting Goods plant and will shunt both to the Puddington Valley yards so they can be classiifed and sent on their way.....

Thanks for visting the Feuer Forest Products Plant - come back soon...........
