Atlas SD60M with Lenz Decoder

Just purchased an Atlas SD60M with a built-in Lenz LEO62XF decoder. The first thing I noticed is when sitting the locmotive on my layout the locomotive started to run, very high speed, and was not responding to my Atlas Commander controller.

I put the engine on my program track and when trying to access the decoder I got an error message on my Atlas Commander, code was E1, which means there was a short on my program track or the system could not detect/read the decoder.

Just to make sure there was not a problem with my Atlas Commander, program track, and layout I tested everything with an Atlas GP40-2 locomotive. Everything worked fine and I was able to access the decoder on my GP40 without problem. In addition my GP40 ran without problems on the layout.

I tried one more test by placing my SD60 on my layout and this time it would "crawl" for 1 -2 seconds before dying. I also noticed my Atlas Commander would display an "OFF" symbol which means there is some type of short on the layout. Again, my other locomotive, GP40, runs without problem.

Before taking the SD60 back to the hobby shop for an exchange or refund wanted to ask if anyone has run into this problem and if you know of a solution such as a way to reset the decoder back to factory default.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
