Error messages - post too long and photos too large - when trying to post

Unlike for past posts, I have been unsuccessful posting my last two posts with photos. In both instances, I received an error message that the number of characters in the post was excessive; each time I tried to re-do the post, the error became larger! Very frustrating! In addition, when trying to post photos, I keep receiving error messages that the photos are too large by x number of KB, when I am sure that they are less than the allowed size. I have submitted photos in the past and never had this problem. I have always used IrfanView to re-size my photos to 1200 x 798, which makes them less than 200kb, well below the allowable size. The ones I just now tried to post were 124, 134, 89, 130, and 130 KB. The strange thing is that the first two loaded fine, but I received error messages for the next three, saying that they are 3.1, 55.9, and 30.6 KB too large. I would love to post some updates to my layout, as well as some photos of my scratchbuilt small trestles, but cannot seem to get them accepted by the site. What is happening? Thanks.

P.S. I just noted that one of the two photos that did upload are showing up in the latest posting window. When I click on it, there is a message that it is not linked to a posting and to notify the Administrator.
