Question NCE Switch Kat Capabilities?

OK. I have an NCE PowerCab on order for my daughter's mini layout. The layout is..... well, tiny by many of your standards as it sits on a 2'X4' frame. I did not have the room to "mount" my daughter's Zephyr to any part of the layout, and therefore it needed to be disconnected and put away while not in use. If any of you know, the Zephyr has several different locations for connecting leads on the back. Well, the wife just doesn't do electronics PERIOD. So when I came to Afghanistan, the layout all but stopped. I'm planning on mounting the small panel to the edge of the frame of the layout so all my daughter has to do to run trains is plug into the panel. No more asking mom to try to hook something up when dad comes back to work.

With that being said, I was also considering using a couple of NCE Switch Kats for the few turnouts she has. I am doing this to try to get her ready for DCC turnouts on a much larger layout later down the road when we get ready to do mine.

So here's one of two questions:

1) She has a spot where two turnouts diverge into each other creating a single crossover between the two main lines. Would it be OK to run both turnouts off of the same Switch Kat given that there should be no instance where both turnouts were not selecting the same path either normal or diverged? I found the post below in another thread which leads me to believe that it should be able to handle the power given that there isn't some other factor at play. I just don't know how the internals of the double crossover are put together. (i.e. a single actuator connected to each switch by mechanical means, or four separate actuators, one for each switch) That would make a significant difference in load I would think.

2) What happens if a small child manually throws the trackside switch on a Kato turnout while connected to the Switch Kat? Is there any risk of damaging the Switch Kat?

------------------------

The other issues I think I have figured out. For instance, I'm looking at running three momentary push buttons to a small control panel that will allow her to use that feature if she doesn't want to use DCC or reach into the layout. The Switch Kat instructions show two momentary switches being used. My plan is to run three but two of them would essentially be running the same circuit for the mainline route and one switch would be used on the other circuit for the crossover.

The same would go for three LED indicators on the panel showing the path selected. Two LEDs indicating mainline, and one indicating crossover. I just really think she'd enjoy actively "using" a control panel while operating.

Thanks for the help ahead of time.
