collectors sometimes make your day!!!

Hello n-scale fanatics,in this hobby we have new people entering the n-scale world of model trains every day.the rolling stock ,buildings and locos that they are introduced to them are what is on the LHS shelves. other "n" fanatics have visited or seen pictures of a layout and ask where did you get that boxcar or who makes that building only to be told oh!! thats out of production or discontinued!! BUT i must have one I just can't go on living without one of those!!! and this has happened to me many times. now enter a good friend of mine who before we met always bought 2 or 3 of each and was in the hobby 10 years before i knew it exsisted. in the closet boxes stacked on each other he finally finds the box and in that box is just what i need to make my life complete sometimes the collector just makes my day!!!!

I'm happy that it worked out for ya 50's... that's great. But the "collector" is one of the reasons that we now have viturally every manufacturer of n scale rolling stock and power units making "limited editions".. translation, buy it now, and pay a lot so that we don't have any inventory costs what so ever. You buy it when we say, at what we say, or you don't get one... period.

The "collector" has been the major cause of this problem; of the grotesquely over inflated secondary market prices (read e-bay, the n scale collector auctions, etc...) and the virtual end of normal production runs.

I agree with you that it's great when that one of a kind car you have always wanted pops up because some wonderful friend or benefactor was smart enough to stash a few away ten years ago and is kind enough to make them available. But it is the "n scale collectors' who have done a great deal to put this hobby in the state it is today, less about running trains and more about "who has what limited edition" release......

I'm really interested to see my sister in laws collection. I just found out she's and NScaler from a long time back. I can only imagine how sweet that will be.

I know she is lurking on the boards. Hope she will do two things soon. First is bring her stuff down and run on my track. Second, get active here.

Yes, Isn't great when you find somebody you know who's into trains...... I'm working on a small corner table layout for my mother-in-law right now. All those "N Scalers" need to come out the closet and become active in the hobby and forums like this.

Lol, wondered why I got a pm to come check this out. Haven't seen her collection yet. She's about 60 miles north of me and I just don't get up in her area much.
