Small layouts - 1 or 2 train operation

As I work on the Drooler Ridge Sub layout ( 3 x 5 folded oval) for my new son to play with I have to make a decision about operations - single or two train operation. I built in a large passing siding so two train operation will be possible - (albiet it will overtask the skills of the little guy until much later in life) but nevertheless, the question I am struggling with, should I bother wiring for two train operation.

Is it necessary on a 3 x 5 ? - Does the "fun" of watching trains pass each other warrant the work, and will it even be practical ?

Opinions ?

From the Puddington Valley Division of the CPR and the backshop of Mike-O-Trains, I remain....."Pud"
