Micro Trains magnetic uncouplers

I am in the process of building a new layout and as part of the transformation I am planning to replace all of my rapido couplers with the Atlas version of the Micro Trains coupler. I am wondering if anyone has any tips about the placement of the magnetic strips on the layout. For example, on a ladder yard arrangement place one on each end just past the turnout or more toward the middle. I also wonder if anyone has developed a hand held magnetic uncoupler like is available for HO scale. That seems to me to be the best and least expensive method. Any comments welcome. Joe
