Track for roundhouse
I'm getting back into model railroading after having been away for several years. I'll primarily model UP steam along with some early diesels running between Cheyenne and Salt Lake City. Anyway, I've taken delivery of several kits from Walthers this week so I can start building my locomotive facility. Included in the kits I received are their Modern Roundhouse and the 3-stall expansion kit for it. I've noticed grooves along the base of the roundhouse kits ostensibly for track, but after poring over the instructions, I can't find any mention of running track into the roundhouse stalls. So, I'm wondering how others have handled this. I'll be using Allied's Code 55 track and I'm wondering if I could just cut sections of rail from some flex track, without the ties, and somehow installing it into the grooves of the roundhouse floors.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'd like to at least have the roundhouse and 130' turntable for it ready by next weekend. I'll be taking delivery of a pair of Challengers and a Big Boy this coming week and they'll be needing a warm home. Needless to say, there won't be even one section of 9-3/4" radius track on my layout.
