Reverse wiring

I know how to reverse wiring on loops, what about like a dog bone with 4 turnouts and a crossing in the middle. Where would you all recommend installing the gaps? I know there suppose to be as long as your longest train so sticking them in the X part wouldn't work, would be to short. Would you consider them as two loops? Or what about the track between the two turnouts that are not part of the reverse section?

If you are doing a dog bone with single track in the middle? Then, it would be best to gap in the middle of the straight section, this would give you maximum length for your cars.
